Summary

I won’t summarise this book because lots of other people have。Celaena Sardothien is a feisty heroin。 She’s beautiful and deadly, an expert assassin whose been caught and imprisoned in the salt mines where she’ll soon die。 The story revolves around a bargain she has to make to secure her freedom。There’s all sorts in this - romance, attraction, sex (by innuendo, nothing explicit), tension。 The writing is pacey and keeps you on the edge of your seat。 Celaena is an appealing character and you’re on I won’t summarise this book because lots of other people have。Celaena Sardothien is a feisty heroin。 She’s beautiful and deadly, an expert assassin whose been caught and imprisoned in the salt mines where she’ll soon die。 The story revolves around a bargain she has to make to secure her freedom。There’s all sorts in this - romance, attraction, sex (by innuendo, nothing explicit), tension。 The writing is pacey and keeps you on the edge of your seat。 Celaena is an appealing character and you’re on her side from the start。This is the first in a series and I’ll certainly go for the others。 。。。more

This was kind of meh for me, but I have high hopes for the series overall so it gets 3 stars ⭐️

Throne Of Glass series is the best series that I have personally ever read。 The author successfully creates a beautiful imagery with extremely great description。 The book is in third person POV which completely suits the book。 I absolutely LOVE how Celeana has SO MANY tricks up her sleeve。 I love how there are twists in the whole series which I did NOT see coming。 I love how the protagonist is a very strong character。 100% RECOMMENDED!

Kinda slow from a start, however epic ride through the book

Somehow this book reminds me very much of Twilight。 The characters and the plot aren’t all that great and slightly shallow, but it just reads really nicely and you can devour it in just a few hours。 It’s easy to imagine yourself into the world without having to think much about a complex plot。 Plus, the boys are nice enough to be amused, but it wouldn’t rip your heart out if they were to be killed off later on。

I'm genuinely struggling to put into words how gripping and compelling this story truly is。When it comes to novels based in new worlds I normally struggle to get gripped on the story, but from page one I could easily see the world Sarah masterfully created。 And from page one I was hooked。It's the kind of novel I couldn't wait to finish, but at the same time I didn't want to read it as it came to an end。Sarah created a new world, one full of mystery and wonder。 The story had me hooked so much tha I'm genuinely struggling to put into words how gripping and compelling this story truly is。When it comes to novels based in new worlds I normally struggle to get gripped on the story, but from page one I could easily see the world Sarah masterfully created。 And from page one I was hooked。It's the kind of novel I couldn't wait to finish, but at the same time I didn't want to read it as it came to an end。Sarah created a new world, one full of mystery and wonder。 The story had me hooked so much that I went through the motions with the characters, I laughed, flushed, cringed, and cried throughout。The third person, head-hopping writing perspective is becoming a new favourite reading style for me, it gave a broader outlook on the story as a whole, and gave a closer look at the characters。Celaena, she wasn't what I expected, in a pleasantly surprising way。 It became quite clear early on that those in her close company could only grow to love her as I did。 She was written so well she didn't feel like a character in a story。I feel like she is a good judge of character, so when she liked someone I was immediately drawn to them, and when she hated someone I felt that too。“When she missed – well, even the fires of Hell couldn't compare to the rage that burst from her mouth。”This has to be my favourite description of Celaena written from Dorian's point of view。 I laughed, probably harder than I should have, but that moment was completely priceless。I love Dorian, Chaol, Nehemia and Elena in equal measure。 I hope to see Nox again too。I truly cannot wait to get lost in Sarah's world once more in Crown of Midnight, also, how amazing is the cover artwork on these novels?!Reread: 12th April "Courage of the heart is very rare," she said with sudden calm。 "Let it guide you。" I put continuing this series off for far too long, I know from experience with Sarah's books that this series will be painful so I'm going to buddy read it with a friend so we can emotionally die together。 I remembered loving this book, I wasn't expecting to get as wrapped up in it the second time around but I seriously adore this story and the characters。 Aside from the king and his right hand weasel! Bring on the pain!!! 。。。more

So, I really, really enjoyed this book! I’m a sucker for books with independent female protagonists that wield blades。 The only issue I had with this book was that it lacked diversity。 There was one POC character throughout this book and I loved her so much! I really wish that she would have been in it more and really wish that there would have been more diversity/representation。

I was a bit skeptical about this one going into reading it because of all the hype surrounding this series, but I was pleasantly surprised! It was a quick read and really kept me engaged。I loved the balance between Celaena's assassin side and her feminine side。 Assassins are allowed to like pretty dresses and going to balls, too。 They don't always have to hate fancy things! It was refreshing, honestly。Loved the enemies-to-lovers trope going on。 It's always a favorite of mine, and it really is we I was a bit skeptical about this one going into reading it because of all the hype surrounding this series, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Buddy Read with Sofie。I have friends that adore this book and friends that warned me from reading it, for fear that an excess of eyerolling could cause me permanent damage。。。I confess, from the moment I realised Celaena was proud of being a "famous" assassin- surely this should be the opposite of what an assassin should want- this book and I were at odds with one another。It has also been a while since I read the beginnings of a love triangle and found I simply did not care about the outcome。 I d Buddy Read with Sofie。I have friends that adore this book and friends that warned me from reading it, for fear that an excess of eyerolling could cause me permanent damage。。。I confess, from the moment I realised Celaena was proud of being a "famous" assassin- surely this should be the opposite of what an assassin should want- this book and I were at odds with one another。It has also been a while since I read the beginnings of a love triangle and found I simply did not care about the outcome。 I did, however, enjoy the friendship between Celaena and Nehemia and how it developed。Overall, I found the plot predictable, Celaena infuriating in her tantrums (you are 18 years old, stop stamping your feet at the slightest inconvenience!) but I finished it。 Sidenote: Elizabeth Evans was also a FANTASTIC narrator on Audible and I highly recommend her rather than the book itself。 。。。more

Not my favorite genre, but read on strong recommendations。 It was slow to start but quickly became engaging, good vacation light reading。 Some parts were weird and forced (love interest narrative??) but the fantasy piece was very good! So so close to having strong female relationship that doesn't talk about men/romance, but again the romance aspect was weird anywhere it was mentioned。 Not my favorite genre, but read on strong recommendations。 It was slow to start but quickly became engaging, good vacation light reading。 Some parts were weird and forced (love interest narrative??) but the fantasy piece was very good! Yeah, I'll be reading more of these。 When I was reading the Court of Thorns and Roses series, everyone kept saying that this one was better。 So I gave it a try, and it is pretty good。 It's a good combination of different stories that I have enjoyed in the past so there was a lot going for it。 Just like the other Maas series, there isn't really a lot of downtime。 Even though the main character is kept in her rooms in between events, it's not try and boring to read。 I definitely look forward to re Yeah, I'll be reading more of these。 When I was reading the Court of Thorns and Roses series, everyone kept saying that this one was better。 So I gave it a try, and it is pretty good。 It's a good combination of different stories that I have enjoyed in the past so there was a lot going for it。 Just like the other Maas series, there isn't really a lot of downtime。 Even though the main character is kept in her rooms in between events, it's not try and boring to read。 I definitely look forward to reading a few more to see if it is in fact better than the others :) 。。。more

The most boring protagonist to read ever。 And the reason why is because she is the epitome of a Mary Sue。 She is good at everything from the start and she has no room for development really。 The plot seemed to try and be too many things at once and it failed at every one simultaneously。
